Description

Mammal records held at North-East Scotland Biological Records Centre - various surveys and casual observations. This dataset does not include records of squirrels, wild cats and marine mammals.

Purpose

Casual recording. The majority of records are casual records submitted by volunteer recorders.

Quality Control

Records have been submitted to varying levels of verification. Some critical species have been verified by local and national experts though many of the historical records may not have been verified. Good confidence in data validity. Data validated and processed by NESBReC.

This dataset is only available on the NBN Atlas at 1Km resolution. Users who wish to access data at a higher resolution and/or data relating to sensitive species should contact NESBReC directly. Data searches for commercial purposes will incur a service charge by NESBReC.

Geographic Coverages

Records compiled from North-East Scotland (administrative areas of Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Cairngorms National Park) as well as some records from Perthshire and Angus. Records collected at a variety of spatial scales ranging from 2 to 10 figure grid references.
