Description

MammalWeb is a "citizen science" platform intended to collate, validate and curate camera trap data that can inform us about the distribution and ecology of mammals. We invite any camera trap user to upload data from camera traps they have deployed, telling us where the camera trap was located. They and other users can classify the image sequences (which might include a series of 1 or more photos, or a video). Image contributors are identified by their MammalWeb ID under the recordedBy field; classifiers are identified by their MammalWeb ID under the identifiedBy field. Image sequences that have been classified by only one user are designated <Unconfirmed, not reviewed>. Those that have been classified by more than one user are only provided if the majority agree, and are designated <Accepted, considered correct>. One record per species seen, per site, per day is submitted to the repository.

Purpose

To augment understanding of Mammal distribution in the UK.
